Winners Announced
NHS staff from across the region are celebrating their success in Health Enterprise East’s 2010 Innovation Competition, with prizes presented at a prestigious Awards Dinner at the Imperial War Museum Duxford, hosted by TV news and anchorman Huw Edwards.
Outstanding healthcare innovations to benefit patients, in the five categories of Medical Technology, Software & ICT, Patient Safety, Moving Care Closer to Home and Tackling Inequalities were put forward by staff working in a range of roles in NHS Trusts across the East of England. This year 65 entries were received.

A special award for the Trust submitting the highest number of entries was won by NHS North East Essex. It was collected by Victoria Raffell, Innovation Scout at the Trust.
Dr Anne Blackwood, HEE Chief Executive, said: “This is our sixth Annual Innovation Competition and we have been extremely impressed by the number and creativity of the entries we have received across the five categories.
“This year we have three new ones - Patient Safety, Moving Care Closer to Home and Tackling Inequalities - reflecting current healthcare priorities which have attracted a wide range of innovations to meet these particular challenges.

Shortlist For This Year's Competition
The 2010 competition was open to staff working in all branches of the NHS throughout the region to put forward ideas for products and services which will benefit patients.
This year it comprised five categories: Medical Technology, Software & ICT, Patient Safety, Moving Care Closer to Home and Tackling Inequalities. Click here to view the 19 shortlisted entrants.
Background to the Competition
Each year Health Enterprise East (HEE) holds a regional Innovation Competition inviting staff working in all branches of the NHS throughout the East of England to come forward with their healthcare innovations.Around 100 entries are received at each annual competition from a wide range of NHS staff across all disciplines and can either be from individuals or teams.
