NHS organisations were given the opportunity to put forward proven innovations from outside of their organisations to bid for funding to deliver them locally. Each innovation had to demonstrate improvements in quality for patients; significant improvements in productivity and evidence of success.
Gareth Jones, Head of Innovation at NHS East of England, said: "With continually rising demands on healthcare services, an aging population and more expensive treatments, doing more for less and improving patient care has never been more important.
"The Regional Innovation Fund helps the whole NHS to adopt and share proven innovative schemes to improve the quality and productivity of patient care."
Funding will be used to support the following projects:
1. Targeted Parenting Programme for Families with Multiple Difficulties (Luton)
2. The Unfinished Business of Fracture, Fragility and Falls (Suffolk)
3. Implementation of a Neonatal Simulation Training Programme (east of England)
4. Specialist Weight Management Service (north Norfolk)
5. Better Referral Practice (Hertfordshire)
6. Alcohol Support Programme (Cambridgeshire)
7. Surviving and recovering from major trauma (east of England)
8. Self Care and Support for All: Reaching the Housebound Patient (Cambridgeshire)
9. Connected Care (Gorleston)
10. Dementia Leads (east of England)
The successful NHS organisations will work with the original innovating organisation over the next year to deliver their schemes and will report outcomes early next year. If these innovations prove successful, they will be adopted and shared more widely across the east of England.
