Ideas for Health

HEE is a non-profit making organisation set up to manage and exploit intellectual property (IP) generated by NHS staff in the East of England for the benefit of patients, staff and the wider healthcare community.

There is a high level of innovation in the NHS but the commercial potential of such developments to date have not been realised sufficiently. Crucial to our success will be the establishment of links with the commercial sector.

Our Services

Initially based at Papworth near Cambridge, the principal activities HEE will seek to deliver to our Member Trusts and their staff are:

• Intellectual Property (IP) awareness raising & training for NHS staff
• The identification and evaluation of IP
• Professional advice on the protection of IP
• Identification of exploitation options, for example through licensing or new company formation
• To promote the adoption of non-commercial but valuable ideas throughout the wider NHS where there are cost savings and/or patient benefit
• Access to proof of concept funding & advice on other sources of funding
• To improve interactions between the NHS & local industry
