Dr Amanda Adler, MD PhD FRCP trained in economics, medicine, and epidemiology. She joined the UK Prospective Diabetes Study (UKPDS) group as a clinical epidemiologist and physician in 1996. Dr. Adler is currently consultant physician at the Institute of Metabolic Sciences (IMS), Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, an honorary clinical epidemiologist with the UK Medical Research Council Epidemiology Unit within the IMS, a chair of a technology appraisal committee for the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE), and a graduate supervisor for epidemiology and public health. Dr. Adler chairs the Quality Standards for Diabetes.

A qualified Social Worker and Project Manager, Gail Johnston brings experience of managing change and implementing Personal Budgets in local authority settings. Gail has led on a number of programmes of change within local government and the NHS. Gail's role is to direct the Personal Health Budget Evaluation programme which has moved from simply a small pilot project to a programme of change in respect of service delivery around Long-term Conditions and Continuing Healthcare. Gail has a variety of experience around implementing Personal Budgets and Direct Payments in local authority Social Services settings working with clinicians, service-user groups and providers.

Sharon joined Diabetes UK in August 2007 from Basildon, Billericay and Wickford Council for Voluntary Services. Sharon has over 11 years experience working in the Third Sector, as well as experience in the public and commercial sector.
A main part of Sharon's role is to influence the services provided by NHS organisations, ensuring that standards are met in the delivery of diabetes services based on a variety of measures including the NICE standards and the National Service Framework, part of which is to ensure there is consultation with service users and that this consultation is meaningful and helps to shape services that met patients requirements as well as meeting the standards.

Siobhan qualified as a registered nurse 21 years ago. For the last 14 years she has specialised in diabetes and currently works in an inner city hospital serving a diverse, ethically mixed population..
Her particular areas of interest are:
• Newly diagnosed patients
• Transitional care for young people
• Insulin pump therapy.
Siobhan has also developed and established structured group diabetes education for adults, teenagers and patients commencing insulin pump therapy.

Lorraine has worked at a senior level in a variety of functions across all sectors of the NHS. Lorraine provides senior management leadership to the Diabetes Health Intelligence Strategic Programme within YHPHO and operational responsibility for the National Diabetes Information Service (NDIS), giving a commitment to support the diabetes community by providing timely, quality assured national diabetes health intelligence.
She works closely with a range of key stakeholders including NHS Diabetes, Strategic Health Authorities, Primary Care Trusts, Diabetes UK, The Information Centre and many others.

Prior to this Anne enjoyed a research career for 6 years in protein biochemistry and enzymology, initially at the University of Westminster and then at South Bank University, London.
Anne holds a degree in chemistry from Strathclyde University and a PhD in biotechnology from the same University.

His experience includes 12 years in pharmaceutical sales and marketing in the USA with Wellcome followed by 19 years based in the UK but having global management responsibilities for a variety of functional areas. Those areas included new product development & commercialisation of three products having over $1bn annual sales, business & corporate development, intellectual property management (i.e., patents & trademarks) at GlaxoWellcome Plc, Gilead Sciences Inc and Phytopharm Plc.
Mike was born in the USA where he secured a degree in Economics & Business Administration from Westminster University and trained at London Business School.
