Observational Research
Observational research goes beyond interviews and focus groups to understand context to identify and validate articulated and implied needs. Often it is only in context that certain needs are identified. Research in context can enable much information to be gathered rapidly from a number of perspectives, typically people, product, place, process (known as the 4 p’s).

Need Translation
The process of translating unmet needs into viable healthcare innovation targets is crucial to ensure tangible solutions can be found. Needs are translated into desired outcomes and the challenges associated with achieving them. Deconstruction of outcome based challenges identifies the technical functionalities required to achieve them. The process of translation provides innovation targets from which to scout and / or perform concept creation.
