Innovation Competitions

Background

Each year Health Enterprise East (HEE) holds a regional Innovation Competition inviting staff working in all branches of the NHS throughout the East of England to come forward with their healthcare innovations.

Around 100 competition entries are received in each annual competition from a wide range of NHS staff across all disciplines. Entries are either from individuals or from teams. All shortlisted entries receive an invitation to attend the spectacular Awards Dinner where they can hear about the other shortlisted ideas, network and find out if their idea has won a share of the £20k prize fund.

2009 Innovation Competition Winners Announced

The fifth annual NHS Innovations East Innovation Competition attracted a total of 86 entries across the five categories. A big thank you to all who took the time to enter.

The quality of the entries this year was exceptionally high. In the Medical Technology category in particular the judges would like to say that they were most impressed with the quality of the entries this year. They had a most difficult decision to award the two prizes as they said all 5 shortlisted entries deserved great credit.

The winners were announced on 13th May at a special Awards Dinner at the American Air Museum at Duxford. The evening was hosted by Jo Brand, who also helped to award the prizes. Winners received a special trophy and a cheque for £2,500 to progress their idea and the runners-up also received a trophy and a cheque for £1,500 to go towards developing their idea.
