Member Trust:

Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn NHS Foundation Trust

Innovation:

An irreversible arterial line connector with a one-way valve. This allows for routine blood sampling but prevents the accidental injection of drugs intended for intravenous line that is a frequently reported complication that may result in skin loss, tissue necrosis, loss of a limb or potentially loss of life.

Role of Health Enterprise East:

Supporting the protection of the idea with a patent, funding early prototyping and proof of concept development leading to the NIC design, supporting clinical evaluation, identifying a commercial partner - Amdel Medical Limited - and negotiated the exclusive licence with them which has allowed the delivery of the product to market.
